HID FARGO printer Error 88 signifies a “Printer Out of Sequence” problem, indicating that the expected operation of the device does not align with the information it is receiving. To fix HID FARGO printer error 88, this issue, press the START/Resume button to eliminate the error, restart the printer, update the driver or firmware, and inspect for any jams or clean the rollers.
Solutions for Error 88:
- Clear the Error: First of all press the START button on the printer to attempt to clear the error
- Restart/Power Cycle: Turn the printer off, wait a few moments, and turn it back on
- Check for Jams/Clean Rollers: Ensure no cards are stuck and clean the printer’s rollers
- Update Firmware/Drivers: Ensure the latest FARGO printer drivers and firmware are installed and match.
- Adjust Settings: If using a HDP5000e/HDP5600, adjust the Transfer EOF to 50 (+) if the film is pulling the card back, or adjust the TRANSFER TEMP OFFSET to – 5 if cards are warping
