What is error 112 on FARGO Printer?

The Error 112 on card printer typically signifies a card jam or alignment issue, or it may indicate that the card hopper is empty. The appropriate solution is contingent upon the specific error message shown on the printer’s LCD or within the status monitor of the printer driver.

This suggests that a card is physically jammed in the print station or the card flipping zone.

Procedure Steps:

  1. Clear the Jam:
    • Open the front door or cover of the printer.
    • Remove the ribbon cartridge to get better access to the card path.
    • Gently remove the jammed card(s). You may need to use the front panel buttons to move the card toward the exit if it is only partially through.
    • Inspect the card path and the flipping area for any small pieces of broken card or ribbon debris and remove them.
  2. Resume Printing:
    • Once the path is clear, reinstall the ribbon cartridge and close the cover.
    • Press the Pause/Resume button on the printer to clear the error message and continue the print job.
  3. Prevent Future Jams:
    • Clean the Printer: Regularly run a cleaning cycle using a compatible cleaning kit to prevent dust and debris buildup, which can cause jams.
    • Check Card Quality: Use only high-quality, recommended cards compatible with your specific printer model.
    • Update Firmware/Drivers: Ensure your printer’s firmware and drivers are updated to the latest versions available on the manufacturer’s website.
