The FARGO HDP5000 Ribbon is used for managing the consumables for the HID FARGO HDP5000 is a bit different from standard printers because it is a retransfer system and just need a ribbon; you also need the HDP Film to complete the print.

The Required HDP Film
Crucial: You cannot print with just the ribbon. The HDP5000 prints the image onto this film first, then fuses it to the card.

Technical Maintenance

The 3:1 Ratio: Since the film (1500 prints) lasts three times longer than a standard ribbon (500 prints), you should ideally buy one film for every three ribbons to keep your inventory balanced.

Cleaning is Mandatory: HID recommends cleaning the printer every time you change the ribbon. Using the Cleaning Kit (P/N: 089200) prevents the “white spots” that occur when dust gets trapped between the film and the card.

Storage: Ribbons are sensitive to humidity. In the Lahore/Karachi climate, keep them in their original anti-static bags until the moment you install them.
